Th» Appendix covers the application of 0.6/1 .OkV cables according io HD604 Section E Part 3,

  1. Obi act

The object of thia document it to provide recommendations for the selection, storage, disposal treneponation and ins t «Nation of the cables specified under clausa 1.

  1. Recommendations for use

    1. Permissible application

These cables may be installed indoors and outdoors for fixed installations on walls and metallic structures. These cables shall not be installed where Che emission of corrosive fumes and excessive smoke in the event of a fire are forbidden.

  1. Maximum оегігмеіЫе voltaoe

These cables may be used on Category А. В & C of IEC 183

  1. Recommeridations for Storage, Transport and Disposal

4J Stafaflfl

Cable drums should be regularly inspected to assess their physical condition.

Battens, when supplied, should not be removed until cable is required for installation,

  1. Transport

Cable drums having a flange diameter exceeding Im and weighing more than 250 kg gross ehall be transported in an upright condition. The drums should be protected against movement. Loading and unloading shall be facilitated by suitable devices to avoid damage to both cable and drum. When moving drums due regard must be paid to the weight, method and direction of rowing. protruding nails and wood sptinters.

  1. Disposal t>v itineration

SmaN quantities of timber or battens which may have been treated with wood preservative may be burnt under carefully controled conditions in the open. Cables shall only be incinerated under the supervision of a licensed contractor.

  1. СаЫа end seating

Both ends of every length of cable shaM be sealed in such a manner as to include the oversheath and to inhibit the ingress of moisture during storage, delivery and up to the time of jointing.

S Recommendations for cabte laving and ■nstaHattori

6'1 General

The choice of cable shell take into account the cable route, method of laying and service conditions.

The latter ehail include:

(al The adjacency of other cab lee end their mutual heating effect; the specific earth resistivity, protection eg a ins t solar radiation; the earth loop impedance; the capably of the cable to withstand the worst anticipated fault conditions of the system;

lb) The leakage of stray currents and attack from solvent substances;

Id Soil subsidence and other forms of violent vibrations:

id} Protection against mechanical damage during and after installation;

(al When cables are laid in ducts, the correct зіге of duct shall be used to avoid damage during ms tai la ton and overheating;

{fl Where cables are laid in surface troughs, there shall be adequate veneration which, however, will not permit the entry of debris;

(gl The cable support system should be designed to avoid damage or danger under normal or fault СОГН&ЬОПЗ'

5.2

Environmental c

їіїзпанї

The lowest recommended temperatures for installation shall be 0°C but care should be taken to ensure that the cable temperature has been above 0*C for the preceding 24 hours.

  1. Pulling tensions

The maximum puling load shal not exceed the following values.

For copper conductors SONfmm* of CSA For aluminum conductors ЗОМ^гпт’of CSA

CSA refers only to the conductors), where long lengths of cable are to be puled along difficult routes, where the tension increases sharply due to bends, cognisance shal be Uken of the values for maximum side waN pressure (tension divided by bending radius) recommended by the supplier.

  1. Bending rad*

During installation, no cable shall be bent to a smaller radius than those listed below.

(a) Armoured circular copper conductor 6 x D

(bl AM other cables 8 x D

where D и tabulated overall diameter.

  1. С<Ы« inttaUtwi

la) There shall be a significant measure of compatibility between the way in which cables are tostaNcd for the test for fire propagation and the actual tost illationsРадеЗ-Е-зэ HD 604 Si:1994 Part 3 Section E

4b) There shall ba compaubifity between all fomting materials and components of the cable.

4c) All bonds for earthing shall have adequate conductance, be as short and as straight as possible and be protected against corrosion, ^specialty where dissimilar metals are involved.

6. Tests аііег_ілзаіідї>оп

These are not mandatory, but when required shall consist of:

la) DC tests on cables

3600V between each conductor and between each conductor and metaNic covering. The voltage than be maintained for 15 minutes. Repeated de. voltage tests may damage the insulation.'BLANK PAGE'
