APPENDIX A

GUIDE TOUSE

  1. S££tfi£

This Guide to Use is vabd foe the application of 0.6/1 kV crosslinked polyethylene and silicone rubber insulated and halogen-free compound sheathed single and multi-core cables with special fra performance properties, mainly intended for use in power plants and substations.

  1. QfelsSH

The object of this document is to provide recommendations for the selection, storage, transportation and installation of the cables, specified under item 1, Scope,

NOTE: Safety reauiroments as well as rules of installation are пот considered in this Guide to Usa, as they are covered by relevant regulations and laws.

  1. Recommendations for use

    1. Permissible applications

Specified cables according to HD 604 Part 5 Section F may be indoors, also in wet locations, and outdoors for installations on walls and metallic structures. Direct burial in soil is allowed, as long as the relevant rules of installation are followed.

  1. Highest permissible voltage

Cables rate at Uo/U = 0 6/1 кV may be used in DC systems having a rated operation voltage between conductors not higher chan 1.5kV. and between conductors and earth not higher than 0.9kV

  1. Concennic conductor

The concentric conductor may be used as neutral, PE-conductor, PEN-conductor or as a screen in accordance with relevant regulations.

  1. Recommandatmns for storaoe and transport

    1. Delivery

The distance between the outer cable layer of a fil!ed-up-cable*delivery-drum and the head of the flange shall ba sufficiently high ю avoid damage to the cable.

  1. СаЫа-end seakto

The cable-ends have to be sealed waterproof during transport, storage and laying.

  1. Transport

4,3'1 For the transport of fiNed-up cable reels only suitable carriers shall be used.

Cable drums with fl ange diameters а хсееФпд 1 m have to be transported with the drum axis in the horizontal position. The drums have to be protected against movement. Loading and unloading shall be made by suitable devices to avoid damage to the cables and to the cable drums.Fil led'up cable drums shell be rolled only on short distances over plain solid ground in the diractitxi indicated on the cable drum. The cable ends have to be tightened.

4.3.2 Short cable lengths may be coiled to rings and trans ported and stored horlzomaly. The permissible bending radii shall not fall short of the values given in clause 5.4.

  1. Recommendation for cable laving and installation

    1. General recommendationa

      1. The cable route, the laying method and the service comfit ions shad be taken into account when selecting the type of cable.

      2. Cables shah be laid and operated in such a way that Шек properties are not endangered.

bn this context rhe following items shall be taken into account:

lai The service conditions. like concentrations of cable quantities, influence of external beat, specific earth resistance, protection against solar radiation, which form the basis for ths selection of the cable type;

(bj Leakage or stray currents and corrosion;

  1. Movements of soil, vibrations (foundations of machines, bridges I, shakes;

  2. The method of laying and the bedding material have io be selected in respect of the outer cable sheath to avoid mechanical damage;

  3. Protection against outer influence, e.g, chemical solvents.

  1. Cables shall be protected against mechanical damage occurring after installation.

Cables laid in ground are considered as being sufficiently mechanicaly protected, if relevant regulations and lews concerning laying depth in ground and protection are folk) wed

The laying depth in the ground shall be according co the relevant regulations and laws.

  1. Inner diameters of ducts and pipes have to have at least a diameter of 1.5 times the cable diameter
