7 PROCEDURE

Dry the test specimens to constant mass m_dry,u in a ventilated oven at a temperature of 70 °C ± 5 °C (5.2) for aggregate concrete and manufactured stone masonry units or 105 оС ± 5 оС (5.1) for clay, calcium silicate and autoclaved aerated con­crete masonry units.

Constant mass is reached, if during the drying process in two subsequent weightings with a 24 h interval, the loss in mass between the two deter­minations is not more than 0,2 % of the total mass. Record the mass m_dry,u .

Where representative portions are used then first weigh each whole unit specimen and record the mass (m_o,u). Then obtain three representative solid portions, i.e containing no enclosed or ex­posed formed voids, of at least 100 g from each whole unit specimen and weigh each group of three together. Record the mass of each group (mo,p,tot).

Dry each group of three portions to constant mass following the procedure of 7.1.1 above.

Record the mass of each group (m_dry,p,tot).

Calculate the moisture content of each group of three portions using equation (1):

7.2 Cepeд^я густи^а матеріаёу виробу у сухому стаж

Виз^ачають об’°м матеріалу виробу, викорис­товуючи оди^ з ^астуї^их методів відїовідм: а) для керамічмх стімвих каменв - гідро- статич^е зважувамя згідм з prEN 772-3;

b) для силікатмх стімвих каменв - 0ляхом заїов^е^^я їіском згідм з prEN 772-9;

7.2 Net dry density

Determine the net volume using one of the follow­ing methods as appropriate:

1. for clay masonry units, by weighing in water as indicated in prEN 772-3;

for calcium silicat e masonry units, by using sand filling as indicated in prEN 772-9

7.2.2 Representative portions of whole unit specimens

Determine the net dry density of the parts as fol­lows:

• determine the dry mass of each portion of the whole unit specimen m_dry,p by drying accord­ing to 7.1.2;

• determine the volume of the parts V_g,p by mea­suring length, width and height to the nearest 1 mm;

• calculate the net dry density рn,p to the nearest 5 kg/m³ using equation (4):

Define the net dry density of each whole unit specimen (from which the portions were ob­tained) as the mean value of the net dry density of the three representative portions. Express the net dry density of the whole unit specimens to the nearest 5 kg/m³ for densities up to 1000 kg/m³

and to the nearest 10 kg/m³ for densities over 1000 kg/m³. Calculate the mean of the net dry densities of the whole unit specimens.

7.3 Gross dry density

Calculate the gross volume /_g,u of the unit from the unit dimensions length, width and height (see EN 772-16) with a subtraction of the volume of perforations, voids, recesses or indentations in­tended to be filled with mortar determined by measurement by any suitable method with the same accuracy of measurement as incorporated in EN 772-16.

To find the gross dry density of the unit рg,u (see equation (5)) divide the dry mass m_dry,u obtained according to 7.1 by the gross volume /_g,u of the unit:

8 TEST REPORT

The test report shall contain the following informa­tion:

1. the number, title and date of issue of this Euro­pean Standard;

2. a description of the masonry unit to the relevant part of EN 771;

3. the method of sampling and by which organiza­tion;

4. date of receipt of the specimens by the test lab­oratory;

5. the date of testing the specimens;

6. the number of specimens in sample and whether these are whole units or representative portions thereof;

Дёя обчислемя середмої густим виробу у сухому стаж рg,u (див. формуёу (5)) ^еобхід^о подіёити масу виробу у сухому стаж mdryu, виз^аче^у згідм з 7.1, ^а загаёьмй об’°м виробу V_g,u:
