APPENDIX А

GUIDE ТО USE

  1. Scope

ТЫ* Guida to U» cow the application of 0ЛЛ kV power cables accordinQ V> HD 604. Part 5, Section S.

  1. Obiact

The object of thia document 4 to provide recommendations for the selection, storage, transport and installation of the cables specified under item 1, Scope.

Note: Safety requirements are not considered in this guide, as they are covered by the relevant regulations and laws.

  1. Recommendations for им

    1. Permteajbte application

Specified cables according to HD 604, Paa 5 Section В may be used indoors, also In wet locations, and outdoors for fixed installations on walls and metallic structures. Direct burial in soil is allowed as specified In sub-clause 5.1.2,

  1. Maximum admissible voftaoa

Cables rated 0.6/1 kV may be used in DC systems having a rated operating voltage between conductors not higher than 1,5 kV and between conductors and earth not higher than 0.9 kV.

  1. R»c<mrnftndatiorts for иогаое »nd tryitoort

    1. Delivery

Cables whose normal delivery length has a weight not exceeding 50 kg ve usually supoked In coils. Cables having a higher weight are supplied in drums.

Cables either in cods or drums shall be protected in order to avoid any damage.

The inner diameter of the coil or the diameter of the drum core shall not be less than twice the controlled bending radius given in sub-clause 5.4.

  1. Cable-end sealing

The cable ends have to be seated water-proof duting transport, storage and laying.

  1. Marking

Each coil or drum she I be marked on the outside with a durable label or inscription bearing the following indications:

., name or trade mark of the manufacturer

. cable designation (construction, nominal cress section, rated voltage, etc...I by means of harmonized symbols whenever possible-

., reference to the HD number* whenever possible.

.. actual cable length,

  1. 1 General rgpommandanona

Б.1.1 Cables shall be instaled and operated in such a way that their properties are not endsnpered.

In thia connection the tolowing points shall be taken into account:

(al service conditions, such as concentration of cablet installed, Influence of external heat soil thermal resistivity, solar radiation, etc

(b) chemical and electrochemical corrosion risks.

(cl movements of the soil and vibrations>

(d) potential attack by fauna and flora.

  1. When directly buried, cables without a metallic covering (screen) shall be protected by an additional mechanical shielding (slabs, tiles, etc).

If the cables are provided with a metallic covering (screen), the additional shielding can be omitted.

hi any case, the minimum laying depth shall be 0.5m.

The metallic covering (screenI is considered to be adequate under the fottowing provisions;

(a) its longitudinal continuity is ensured throughout the cable route.

(Ы it is effectively grounded.

Icl it й designed to withstand fault currents, if any,

  1. When cables are laid in pipes or ducts, the inner diameter of the pipes or ducts shal be at least 1.4 times the overall diameter of the cable.

Note: In case of cables being laid instead of pulled in a duct this condition does not apply

The number, position and shape of the bends in a pipe or duct must allow an easy pulling in and out of the cable, i.e. without exceeding the maximum allowed pulling force.

If и is planned to lay single core cables of three phase systems through steel pipes, all cables belonging to the same system have to pass through the same pipe.

  1. When cables are installed horizontally on wads or ceilings, the approximate distance between brackets «hail be 20 times the overall diameter of the саЫв, or 2m. whichever із the lowest.
